This is the perfect time to use my print teachers favourite phrase: It’s that time of year again.
Because really and for true, I have gone through the same thing every May for the past 4 years, maybe even as many as 5 or 6.
Finals are over, or in this case, my internship. I have this huge gaping hole of time and I get on the self improvement train.
I want to learn French. I should join Lumosity. Why am I not listen to Jazz music more? I could go for a walk every night. Oh the National, how I have missed you. Wait, I haven’t had a blog post since October?
So bring on the 4 to 5 day streak of doing this everyday. Taking the same French lessons that I learned last summer because I forgot everything, head pounding from those damn lumosity games because I haven’t had this many electrons firing in my brain since 5th grade, binge watching the National until 2 am since I am so behind on what’s going on in the world, all the while hearing the judgement coming from my computer.
“You haven’t visited us since August 2013.”
“You need to come back everyday if you want to learn.”
“Where have you been?”
“Has it really been that long since you posted on your blog?”
Soon, I will get a job and where will all my self improvement go then, huh? Same place it has always gone. Away into the corner of my bookmarked pages I always say I’m going to get back to but really, deep down, I know I’m never going to visit that site again.
Oh, the humanity.
It is also that time of year to say: Maybe this year will be different.
